Fix Printer Problems in Windows 10 Easily

If you are upgrading your Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 or if you also perform a clean installation from an earlier version of Windows then there is a chances that everything will work very fine or normally.

One of the most common problems with operating system upgrades such as printer support. Windows 10 should have warned if it was not going to support your printer before you installed it but even supported models may not work smoothly after an upgrade is made. The new operating systems do not always include drivers for old printers and manufacturers do not always provide updated drivers in a timely manner. Thus if your printer suddenly stopped working after you switch to Windows 10 then it becomes very important to fix this issue.  You can check out these below steps to fix printer issues in Windows 10:

Step 1: Open the Printers Control Panel

The very first and the important step in troubleshooting a printer issue is to make use of Windows 10’s own troubleshooting tools. You can search for printers in the Windows 10 search box and then simply select the Devices and Printers from the list of results. This will open the Devices and Printers Control Panel pane.

Step 2: Troubleshoot a Connected Printer

After you open the printer’s Control Panel – you have to look in the windows for your printer. It might be listed under Printers or may be unspecified. If your printer is specified there, then right-click it and close Troubleshoot from the menu that appears. You can then follow the on-screen instructions for troubleshooting the printer. However, you have to be prepared for this to not work but it will not work all the time.

Step 3: Check if your Printer is Installed

If Windows 10 troubleshooting does not work well or Windows 10 has not detected the printer then the next step you apply is to check whether or not the printer has been installed. You can click “Start” and then go to “Settings” then “Devices” and then “Printers and Scanners”.

In case, if you do not see the printer listed there in the main Windows panel then you can click then Add a printer or scanner option and then you have to wait while Windows tries to detect your preferred printer. But it is also quite important to make sure that it is connected to your system and the switch is on.

Step 4: Tell Windows 10 to search for an older printer

If you find that your printer is detected then you can follow the on-screen instruction for the installation procedure. However, Windows will download and install any important drivers automatically. If it is listed then you can click the ‘The Printer I that I want isn’t listed’ option. After this you will see the five different options, out of which four are for adding that is shared over a network. If you need to do this, then you should know how to continue from this point and since settings up network sharing in the very first place are the trickiest part of this process.

These are the most common and the effective steps you can apply when you find that you are facing printer problem in Windows 10. However, after the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, there are lots of features have been added due to which the chances of getting these errors have been reduced. So, follow the above and make your printer error free and continue working in Windows without nay hassle.
