Fix 80240020 Windows 10 Installation Error

Step 2: Move to C: > Windows > Software Distribution > Download folder and empty everything present in that folder.

Step 3: Now run Command Prompt utility in Administrator mode and look for 'cmd' from Start menu/screen. Right-click on it and choose 'Run as Administrator' from the context menu.

Step 4: Now type following command and hit enter wuauclt.exe/updatenow.

Step 5: Wait for few minutes and check for available updates via Windows update. Windows 10 download will get started automatically depending on the version of Windows OS installed on your system. 

Step 6: Once download gets finished, it will start 'Preparing for Installation' after that again try to install the update.

Step 7: You will find the message, "Your upgrade to Windows 10 is ready". Hit on Restart Now or Start the upgrade now button present on your screen.

Step 8: Now reboot your PC will and Windows 10 installation will take place automatically.

Step 9: Now just let your PC restart several times while installation.

Step 10: After the installation gets over follow the on-screen guide to enter into login screen.

Step 11: Now just enter the username/password to boot the newly installed and configured Windows 10.
